In 1 Kings 8, in dedicating the house of God, that has now been completed by Solomon, Solomon kneels at the altar and prays. It is interesting that he prays multiple times the words, "When your people sin," and then adds on God forgiving them. At first when I read this, I thought, "Why would Solomon just assume and give the green light for them to sin." Like when the alcoholic says, "I will quit drinking, but I am going to keep this six pack just in case I go back." Ha. He will go back. He has already set himself up for failure. n nSolomon is not setting the people up for failure, Solomon in his wisdom understands the propensity for man to sin. Solomon knows the sinful nature of humanity and knows they are going to fail at some point and he is asking God for His mercy and grace when they do. n nAnd then look at how he concludes this prayer, "that all the peoples of the earth may know that the Lord is God; there is no other. Let your heart therefore be loyal to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day."" nâ€â€I Kings‬ â€8‬:â€60-61 n nAmen! May our hearts be loyal to the Lord our God that we may walk in all of His ways! I pray this over you and myself today!
