2 Samuel 13-15, Many refer to the dark days of David's life being his time with Bathsheba and then the death of his baby boy. But these chapters are awful times in David's life and it all stems from a promise that the Lord made to David during his adultery days. Now God forgave David, but God promised him that this would affect his life and family. and now here in 2 Samuel David's son Ammon rapes his daughter Tamar. Then Absalom, David's other son kills Ammon for what he did to his sister Tamar. On top of this, now Absalom has gained quite a following and is seeking to take over the kingdom that David is ruling. At the end of chapter 15, David flees to preserve his life and family. God is still with David and will handle this situation for David, but nonetheless, we can see how this one decision with Bathsheba has turned into a giant mess that doesn't seem to want to go away. n nMy takeaway: sin truly will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay. May we flee from our sin! Amen! Flee from sin! Have nothing to do with it. Cut off the movie that promotes gay pride, don't listen to that garbage music, look straight ahead, flee youthful lusts! Amen! Let's take walking in holiness seriously because the long term effect of our sin is so awful! May God keep our feet from slipping into any sin for His glory and our good!
