Joshua 1-3
The Lord kept telling Joshua to be strong and courageous, for He is with him. The Lord told Joshua to meditate on the Law given to Moses night and day, not to look to the left or the right, but to stay focused on the word and he would succeed wherever he goes. Joshua was to continue where Moses left off. God had made a covenant with Abraham several generations before Joshua and yet, it was still a work in progress.
There are things that the Lord wants to do through us and we may not see all of the fruit of that during our time here on this earth. But we can trust that if the Lord is with us, we will have all that we need. Like Joshua, we have to stay focused on the Lord and His word, not looking to the left or right, but moving forward courageously and remembering that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength.
When we take our eyes off of Jesus, our minds and vision will be clouded by distractions that will delay what God wants to do through us.
Proverbs 1
My takeaway from Proberbs 1 reminds of the scripture John10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man.
Those who hear the truth and reject it are also rejecting wisdom because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
This scripture reminds me also of Isaiah 55: 6-7 Seek ye the Lord while He may be found, call ye upon Him while He is near: Let the wicked forsake his way: and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord and He will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
God is very gracious and will forgive us of our sins, but if we hear and reject Him then there will come a day when it will be too late to call upon Him. That is a very sad realization.
1 Corinthians 1
Paul writes to the church at Corinth to remind them to be unified in Christ and to remind them that they were called by God.
I think that like the Corinthians, we have to be reminded of the same things at times. The body of Christ should edify one another. Not to let each other's shortcomings cause us to have discord amongst ourselves, but to be forgiving of one another and to encourage each other in the Lord. To remember that we all have the common goal to allow the Lord to work through us and accomplish His will. It's not about exalting ourselves, but it's all about Jesus Christ being magnified.
