Leviticus 10:1-2, "Then Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took his censer and put fire in it, put incense on it, and offered profane fire before the Lord, which He had not commanded them. So fire went out from the Lord and devoured them, and they died before the Lord."

This is awful to read in regards to Aaron. My heart breaks for him. But if you remember, Aaron allowed and made a golden calf to worship, now Aaron's sons are doing the same thing in the sense that they are not following the Word of God. His sons Nadab and Abihu was wrong in offering profane fire before the Lord. They were the wrong people to be handling the incense and presenting it to the Lord. This was the task of Aaron, the high priest. They used the wrong instruments, their own incense burners instead of the incense burner of the high priest that was sanctified by the anointing oil. They did this at the wrong time, it was only on the annual Day of Atonement that the high priest was allowed to take the incense into the Most Holy Place. They acted under the wrong authority. They did not consult Moses or their father and they did not follow the Word of God that Moses had received from God. And they depended upon the wrong influence. They were under the influence of alcohol rather than the influence of Gods Word.

God, through Nadab and Abihu, is communicating that we cannot merely do as we please and ignore the Word of God. There is a great price to pay for those who do. May we handle the Word of God carefully and not step outside of what His Word declares!

John 5

The man that had been in that condition for 30 years seemed to have a defeated mindset. It seemed like he was counting himself out. He let others go before him down into the pool to be healed because he felt unworthy and inferior, but when Jesus spoke to him and told him to " take up his mat and walk" he did it. All it took was a word from the Lord to give him the faith to get up and walk. When we are down in life, we need to hear from the Lord to give us the strength to get up and keep pressing on. We can count ourselves out, but Jesus counts us worthy enough to lay down His life for us! Oh, how He loves us!

Isaiah 40:31 Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Hallelujah!
