Exodus 21-22
Once again, I am amazed at how God reveals His character through His word. It is just awesome how God orchestrated everything through Moses and Israel. Going back some chapters, Moses and his father in law communed with one another and he gave Moses advice to recruit other men of God to govern the people, so Moses took his advice, then the ten commandments were given by God, and now in Exodus 21-22 God is giving instruction (as it pertained to the customs of that time) for how Israel is to govern the people. We see the principles of restitution, fairness, and grace. We see that God cares for humanity. It's important to Him how the people are governed. God did not just give the commandments and leave it at that, but it was significant enough to Him, that He gave specific guidelines for how the people were to be governed. Through those laws we are able to see the character of God and what He values. He values human life, He values jusice and fairness, He values responsibility, He values restitution, He values respect. Overall, He values love that humanity has for one another and integrity. Without His instruction, I wonder if we would even know what integrity is because He's the author of it!
Romans 8
This chapter talks about how we who are in Christ, have the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We are no longer in the flesh, but in the Spirit. Through Jesus Christ, we are more than conquerers and that nothing can separate us from the love of God. I'm in awe of God's love for us revealed through Romans 8. God is so powerful and awesome! That God would allow us to be imparted with His Holy Spirit and He is truly with us and that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God- it's amazing!
1 Timothy 1
Paul wrote to encourage Timothy to stay in Ephesis and to command the Ephesians who were not teaching sound doctrine to teach the truth. Paul gave him many reaons why he should stay and finish the task given to him. The Ephesians were emphasising the wrong things, not understanding the significance of what they were teaching. Paul did not want the doctrine to be corrupted. God takes His word seriously and expects us as beleivers to do the same. Paul reminded Timothy that he was persecuting Christians and yet, by God's grace and mercy, God delivered him from the lies and used him greatly. Maybe Timothy felt unworthy to be called, but he had to stay and do what God wanted him to do.
Overall, I take from this chapter a reminder to stay the course in Christ when things are challenging. God has very important things that He wants to do through us, even if we don't see the significance of it or the big picture. To not be discouraged. That God equips the called.
1 Timothy 1
It was important for Timothy to stay in Ephesis and stand firm in the truth because one compromise, becomes another compromise, which becomes another compromise, until the truth is totally twisted into something completely false. There was no room for error or complacency with the truth in Ephesis. Same as today. We see so much of this now where that is exactly what has happened. People have rejected the truth and relyed upon themselves to decide what they be beleive as the truth and are teaching that in the "churches". The truth has been corrupted to those who have itching ears. It is sad, because they do not know that THE truth is what REALLY sets them free! This remonds me again, that we are yo contend for the faith.
