Exodus 5-6, Moses goes before Pharaoh and speaks on behalf of the Lord saying in 5:1, "This says the Lord God of Israel: 'Let My people go, that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.'" Pharaoh said he in verse 2 that he didn't know this Lord. And Pharaoh thought that if the people have time for a feast, then they can do more work and he increased their labor making things much harder on the people. But can imagine that the statement of Moses saying "My people," challenged Pharaoh because Pharaoh viewed them as his slaves.
Moses then goes and cries out to God because Pharaoh didn't listen to Moses and then made things much harder on the people. In chapter 6, The Lord reminds Moses 4 times that He is the Lord. Seven times God used the words "I will." I love 6:1, as God speaks to Moses and says, "Now you shall see what I will do to Pharaoh..." whew!
When we do not listen to the Lord things go awfully disarray. My takeaway today is that I must listen to the Lord as He speaks, leads, and guides. He is the Lord of my life. And with Him being my Lord, He calls the shots. May we walk ever so close that we can hear His voice and have His leading!
Exodus 5
Sometimes things seem to get worse before they get better, it's during this time that our faith and trust in the Lord is tested. Moses didn't understand what God was doing, but God was going to work it out and do what He said He was going to do.
Exodus 6
The people of Israel cried out to God and He remembered them. He already had a plan, but just like us, He wants us to ASK Him- invite Him into our circumstances so that He can show up and show out! So that He can reveal to us that He heard us and He truly cares for us. We are to cast our cares on Him, for He cares for us.
