Day 25
Today's Scripture
Genesis 50, Acts 25, 2 Peter
Genesis 50, Acts 25, 2 Peter
Genesis 50:15, "When Joseph's brothers saw their father was dead, they said, 'Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually for all the evil which we did to him.'"
Here are Joseph's brothers, 30 years later their father has died and they are still sweating what they did to Joseph so many years ago. "Now that our father is gone, what will Joseph do to us." Joseph could have repaid what they did along time ago. But does revenge solve the problem? Or does forgiveness solve the problem? Joseph choose to forgive and they all were able to live together peaceably and that my friend is the solution to contention...forgive! Is there anyone in your life that you need to forgive? Pray and ask God for wisdom and strength to do so. Choose to forgive!

If you were speaking to a group of Christians for the last time, 2 Peter is a great book to preach from. If there were something you wanted people to know and remember as the body of Christ, 2 Peter would be a great message to give them. Peter talks about how to be fruitful in your faith in chapter one. In chapter two he talks about divisive people, destructive doctrines and deceptive teachers. Whew! In chapter three he talks about the coming of Christ and reminds us that "the Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness, but is long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." He continues talking about the coming of Christ and how we are to live in light of His coming! Oh friend, may we today and for the rest of our lives, live in light of the coming of the Lord! What a mighty God we have. What a patient God as He waits currently on more people to be saved as the world continues to not want Him to acknowledge Him! May we be faithful in spreading this message that Peter so clearly gives to the followers of Christ!
Genesis 50 Jacob dies and so he was buried where Abraham, Isaac, Sarah, Rebekah, and Leah were buried. Joseph's brothers ask if he's going to repay them for the evil they meant for him, but we see in Genesis 20-21 that Joseph had chosen to forgive them. Joseph could see that what they meant for evil, God turned it for good. He wasn't angry at them anymore because God's plan had come to pass. When Joseph died, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt. I find it interesting that the very people God's people were freed from, God used to fullfill his plan. God had allowed them to be at peace with His chosen people. God doesn't waste a thing. He is sovereign over all.
I love this perfect example of forgiveness..Joseph had the power to do what he wanted to his brothers, they were even scared of what he may do to them now that his father died ,but he chose to forgive..this reminds me of how Jesus forgave me when i didn't deserve it....I love how God can take any situation and turn it around for good.
Amen.
