As humans we were created to be like him, not to be him. We have a choice as to how we are going to build this world, represented neatly in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Showing from the beginning we are sinners.

In Acts Jesus assured His apostles that they would receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit which would enable them to preach the gospel to the whole world.

Happy New Year my brother!

In Genesis we see the beginning of creation. In Acts, we see the beginning of the church. How exciting both of these are to read and see Gods plan. In Genesis 1-2 what stood out to me is that God blessed the seventh day and He rested. He did not bless the other six days, however, He did bless the seventh. We too are to remember the seventh day and to keep it holy. This is to be a day of worship and a day of rest. Acts took place to provide the place of worship. The church is born. In Acts 1 what spoke to my heart was the gathering of the apostles and they are praying. Verse 14 says that "they all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers." Imagine that prayer meeting. Imagine how they must have prayed for Mary and the brothers of Jesus consoling them and seeking to comfort them. The text says that there was 120 of them and they were in one accord. Oh what God can do when his people come together!

I never realized the "firmament" was Heaven. (Gen. 1:8)

Interesting that God is doing different things on each day but He always ends each day (except the 7th) with "so the evening and the morning were the -- day." My Bible says, perhaps this is suggesting the continuing observance of the Sabbath throughout the history of Israel.

I always love the mention of Jesus in Genesis 1:26 "OUR" image! He always is and always has been. How cool that we are from the same pattern as God...what an honor and responsibility!

God clearly doesn't need us. BUT we need Him. We see this when there were plants and herbs but no rain and no man to till the land YET God causes a mist to happen and boom, He himself waters the WHOLE face of the ground.

Genesis 2:2-3 really spoke to me. In a time where the entire world is busy 24/7, how hard is it to just stop and rest FOR GOD. I know I have always been taught that any rest is considered lazy. But I clearly wasn't following the teachings of Scripture. Here God is clearly showing us how to live our weekly life, work 6 days and then rest on the Sabbath. I just started resting on the Sabbath and refraining from doing any work and I have seen so much fruit and blessings from it. May I never be too busy for God. I will trust in Him that HE will provide. Not my works but my faith in Him. He is sovereign.

Acts 1:24, "And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men" - there is no hiding from God. He doesn't just know our works but knows our heart. This is something only the Creator of the universe could know. I do not want to work for men in the open. I want God to know my heart in secret. To always be working for Him. To be praying continually. May God bless us all, refining us into a holier and purer form. Seeking the things after His own heart
